Primary Season: Winter
Cockroaches are common household pests that are particularly good at hiding around your home. These oval-shaped insects can grow to around 2 inches in length, have six legs, two antennae and some species have wings. You may find these pests frequenting your home if food isn’t cleaned and stored correctly or if sanitary measures are lacking
The most common species of cockroach is the German Cockroach. This roach is known for thriving among humans and infesting homes and buildings. Adult German Cockroaches are light brown and about 1/2 inch long. They can be identified by the two dark stripe-like markings that run lengthwise along the area behind the head. This species of cockroaches reproduce very rapidly, which makes controlling them especially difficult. A single female can produce thousands of new cockroaches in less than a year. GROSS!
HOW TO IDENTIFY A COCKROACH INFESTATION:
You may notice pepper-like specs around dark, moist areas, especially in kitchens and bathrooms. The dark dirt-looking specs are cockroach feces and besides seeing the bug itself this can be an early indicator you have a cockroach infestation.
Cockroaches are nocturnal insects, so they come out at night to crawl around your home spreading their feces and germs in search of food. If you do see one during the day you can bet that you’ve got a serious cockroach infestation on your hands.

- Remove waste regularly and store trash in bins outside of the home.
- Seal any cracks in the home's foundation, windows, screens and entryways to discourage roaches from slipping through and entering your home.
